EMPORIA, Ks.- The Jets traveled to face the Emporia State Hornets for game two of the three game series. The Hornets would take game two through seven innings, 16-1.
How it Happened:
-The Hornets struck early in the first inning with a grand slam to left, giving Emporia State a quick 4-0 lead. Newman answered in the bottom half with a single from
Carter Andreozzi and a groundout from
Kaynan Kaku to later score Andreozzi to make it 4-1.
-Emporia State continued to build its lead in the second and and third with a solo home run, extending their advantage to 6-1. In the bottom half of the third,
Justin Birch would double to left center to give the Jets their second hit of the game.
-The Hornets kept the pressure on in the fourth with back-to-back solo home runs, pushing the lead to 8-1. Another solo shot from Emporia State in the fifth made it 9-1.
Riley Kujawa would add another single for the Jets in the bottom of the fifth, but the Hornets would continue to hold the Jets. The Hornets scored seven runs in the seventh inning to secure the series win. Emporia State would take game two, 16-1.
