WICHITA- The Jets hosted East Central for a Tuesday afternoon non-conference matchup. The Jets fell in game one, 8-0. Game two would go to the Tigers, 3-2.
Game One: NU 0, ECU 8
- Both the Jets and Tigers were held scoreless in the first inning. The first score would come from the Tigers in the top of the second with a solo home run to give ECU the early 1-0 lead. Newman was unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the third inning, two hits including a two-run home run allowed ECU to stretch their lead to 4-0. The Jets were hitless in the third, allowing the Tigers to hold their lead.
- Makenna Majors entered in the top of the fourth to pitch for the Jets, allowing no hits and facing just three batters in the inning to hold the score at 4-0. The East Central defense continued to hold the Jets off the board. In the bottom of the fifth, the Jets had bases loaded but could not push a run across the plate. ECU would score one more in the sixth to extend to a 5-0 lead. ECU would then tack on three more to extend to an 8-0 lead heading into the bottom half of the final inning. The Jets offense was unable to cut into the deficit. East Central would take game one, 8-0.
Game Two: NU 2, ECU 3
- The Jets and Tigers were held off the board in the first inning. In the second inning, ECU took the 1-0 lead with a solo home run that led off the inning. The next score would come from the Tigers, with another solo home run to take the 2-0 lead. The Jets were held hitless until the bottom of the fourth. Newman was unable to score in the fourth, leaving two runners on with two hits in the inning. Through six innings pitched,
Kinyon DeCorte allowed just three hits to the Tigers offense, holding the Jets in the game.
- The Jets were finally able to put some runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth.
Audry Rumsey was the first base runner after connecting with a double.
Lauren McNaught would then reach first on an error to put runners at first and second.
Kaila Kaahu would then triple to right field. This triple would score two runs for the Jets tying the game up at 2-2. To lead off the top of the seventh inning, ECU hit their third solo-home run of the game to retake the lead at 3-2. The Jets would be unable to make up the deficit in the bottom of the seventh. ECU took game two, 3-2.

- Kaahu led the Jets with two RBIs in game two with a triple.
Newman returns home on Saturday and will host Washburn for senior day beginning at 1 PM.
