ALVA, Okla.- The Jets season opener ended in a 1-1 draw against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night.
How it Happened:
The first period began with both the Jets and the Rangers contesting for control. NWOSU initiated their attack early, earning a corner kick in the 7th minute and firing multiple shots, though none found the back of the net.
Emma Lintecum was pivotal for the Jets, saving five shots.
Emma Kolbe tested the Rangers goalkeeper, Alexa Flores, with a shot in the 15th minute, which Flores successfully saved. The period concluded without any goals, leaving both teams locked in a scoreless tie.
NU struck first in the second period with a goal by
Allison Hernandez, assisted by
Aleksah Moreno, at the 46:21 mark. NWOSU responded quickly, leveling the score 1-1 with a goal from Emerson Curd in the 51st minute.
Raylen Grant and Kolbe each took shots in the second half, but neither found the back of the net. Despite a flurry of activity on both sides, the period ended with the teams deadlocked at one goal apiece.
Player Notes:
- Lintecum tallied five saves through 45 minutes played and no goals allowed.
- Hernandez scored the Jets sole goal in the 46th minute.
- Moreno was credited with the assist to Hernandez.
