SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Newman capped off the Drury Invitational with matches against Southern Nazarene and Drury. Against SNU, the Jets fell 3-1. In their final match of the tournament against Drury, Newman fell 0-3.
Game One: NU 1, SNU 3
The Jets fell to Southern Nazarene, 1-3. Newman secured its only set win with a score of 25-19 in the third set. The first set began with Southern Nazarene taking an early lead, capitalizing on a service ace by Emma Grace Moddelmog and a series of strong plays to make it 9-3. The Jets responded with points from
Isabella Lamb and
Priscilla Raschen, narrowing the gap to 12-7. SNU's offense, led by Rayanna Mauldin and Kate Wright, extended its advantage to 19-10. Despite a late push from NU, including a kill by
Hannah Tymitz, SNU secured the set 25-16.
SNU seized momentum early in the second set, capitalizing on multiple attack errors by Newman to establish a 5-1 lead. Despite a strong response from Lamb and
Avery Kelley, SNU maintained its advantage with consistent scoring, widening the gap to 16-7. Newman's efforts to close the deficit included a service ace by
Reese Johnson and timely kills from Raschen, yet SNU's offense was able to seal the set with a 25-18 win.
Newman gained momentum in the third set with a pair of service aces by Johnson to extend its lead to 16-10. Kelley and Lamb contributed significantly to Newman's scoring with multiple kills. SNU kept the score close early on, however, Newman's defense was solid, culminating in a block by Lamb and Kelley that secured the final point. This led to a 25-19 set victory for the Jets.
SNU secured a 25-18 victory in the fourth set against Newman, concluding the match. SNU took an early lead with kills from Kate Wright and Maecie Hawthorne, establishing a 2-0 advantage. Newman narrowed the gap to 5-5 with consecutive points, including a kill by Raschen assisted by
Charissa Ninan. Despite the visitors' efforts, SNU maintained its lead through consistent scoring from Wright and a series of attack errors by the Jets. SNU would take the match, 3-1.

Jets Volleyball fell to Drury in straight sets on Saturday evening, with a final score of 0-3. The first set began with Drury taking an early advantage, opening with a 9-3 lead. Newman responded with key plays from Raschen and
Ashlyn Warburton, narrowing the gap to 15-9. Drury's Jacy Bray assisted on multiple kills, maintaining its lead. Despite the Jets efforts, including an ace by
Kierny Follmer and a kill by Lamb, the Panthers closed the set with a 25-20 win.
Drury edged NU in a tightly contested second set, finishing with a 25-23 victory. The set featured numerous lead changes, with both teams capitalizing on the opponent's errors. NU managed to tie the score at 18-18 after a service ace, but the Panthers responded with key kills from Abby Renshaw, who secured the final two points of the set.
The Panthers secured a decisive win in the third set with a 25-13 score against NU. The set began with a series of kills leading to an early 3-0 advantage for Drury. Despite service errors from the Panthers that gave the Jets a boost, NU's efforts, including a kill by Lamb and a block from Raschen and Follmer, were insufficient to halt Drury's momentum. The Panthers took the match, 3-0.
