Jets Come Up Short Against LCU

LUBBOCK, Texas — NU fell to Lubbock Christian 3-1 on Friday. The Jets generated 10 of their 13 shots after halftime and made a late push with eight attacking actions from 78:36 to 89:04 while trailing, but could not close the gap.

How it happened
NU generated the first recorded look when Skylur Staley shot high at 2:13, but LCU went in front at 5:53 on Alex Lachevre's goal off Jack Brassey's assist. The Chaparral pressed after the opener, forcing Guilherme Borges into saves at 10:42 and 22:44 while adding three corner kicks and two other shots during that stretch. The Jets answered with chances from Oscar Duffy and Yohsuke Ono, whose 24:49 attempt was saved by Milo Paci, and added corner kicks at 24:56 and 31:52. After a late stretch that included fouls by both sides and yellow cards to Borges and Max Moorahrend, Oliver Robinson scored at 43:34 to send LCU into halftime ahead 2-0.

Vincent Edgell scored at 46:53 to bring the Jets within 2-1, and NU followed with a saved Alonso Fernandez shot and an Ono attempt off a corner in the next several minutes. After Fernandez received a red card at 55:18, Borges kept the margin at one with saves on Max Moorahrend, Oliver Robinson, and Jack Brassey during an LCU push. The Chaparral added to the lead at 73:30 when Augusto Militao scored off an Alex Lachevre assist to make it 3-1. The Jets pressed late with two corners, back-to-back woodwork shots by Ono and Max Wetzel, and saved attempts from Duffy and Staley, but LCU held the 3-1 score through the end of the second half.

Edgell scored the Jets' goal on his lone shot on goal and finished with two points. Borges recorded nine saves over 90 minutes, making four in the first half and five in the second. Ono led NU with three shots and put one on goal.
