SHAWNEE, Okla. — The Jets were outmatched by Oklahoma Baptist 2-0 on Wednesday. Newman put six of its 11 shots on goal, including nine total attempts after halftime, but was held scoreless.
How it happened
The Bison generated the early pressure, putting four shots toward
Emma Lintecum in the opening 5:12, with Lintecum saving attempts from Camden Ocheskey twice and Ryann Phillips once while Hali White missed wide. NU's first listed shot came at 16:13 when
Victoria Sandoval forced a save from Makenzie Christian, but OBU continued to create chances and Hali White scored at 20:24 for a 1-0 lead.
Allison Hernandez put another Jets attempt on frame at 26:20, but the Bison put three more shots on goal in the next stretch and Camden Ocheskey scored from a Ryann Phillips assist at 31:27 to make it 2-0. NU later earned a corner kick at 40:46, and the half closed after Phillips sent the final listed shot high at 44:52.
The Jets created the first look of the second half when
Victoria Sandoval shot wide left at 45:45, and Lintecum kept OBU off the board at 48:55 by saving Camden Ocheskey's attempt before the home side sent two more shots high. The middle of the half included a run of fouls and a yellow card to Susanna Predtechenskis, then Newman generated chances as Hernandez and
Peyton Childers each forced saves from Makenzie Christian around an
Emma Kolbe shot and a Jets corner. The Bison later put an Annelis Perez shot on frame at 69:52 and earned a corner at 75:45, but NU generated the late pressure with two corners and four shots from 80:54 to 87:16, including two more Hernandez attempts saved by Christian. Neither side scored in the half, and OBU finished off the 2-0 result.
