WICHITA, Kan. — The Jets came up short against Oklahoma Christian 4-0 on Saturday at Wilkins Field. The match also marked Senior Day for the Jets, a special occasion to honor the contributions of
Hailey Korth,
Emma Kolbe,
Allison Hernandez,
Grace Long, and
Katherine Wilson. The Jets were held to five shots, four on goal, while facing 29 shots and finishing with 12 saves.
How it happened
Oklahoma Christian put NU under pressure early, with
Emma Lintecum saving shots by Jenna Munson at 1:42 and Jaycie Daggs at 4:04 before
Victoria Sandoval forced Breanna Wooten into a save at 10:05. With the match still 0-0, the Jets held through a five-shot Eagles stretch from 14:27 to 20:25, including Lintecum's save on Jordan Tanges at 16:48, and later generated a 28th-minute chance when
Emma Kolbe's shot was saved and NU earned the ensuing corner. Oklahoma Christian resumed creating chances through Munson and Aubrey Smith, and Tanges scored at 41:06 before the Jets went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Kolbe put NU's first chance of the half on frame at 46:11, but the Eagles followed with a run of shots and corner kicks before Caid Jefferson scored off a Zoe Walker assist at 58:33 to make it 2-0. Oklahoma Christian added goals from Rylan McIntyre at 64:37 and Sophia Acuna at 68:58, moving the score to 4-0. The Jets generated a corner and shots from
Victoria Sandoval and
Lexi Bauer at 68:58, with Bauer's attempt saved by Breanna Wooten, while
Emerson Wedel made several saves later in the half. The Eagles continued to create late attempts without adding another goal and finished off the 4-0 result.
