Dan Cosgrove

Dan Cosgrove is entering his 19th season as an assistant coach for the Newman men’s basketball program in 2016-17.

Cosgrove assists in all aspects of team and individual game preparation.

Cosgrove has been along for the entire ride with head coach Mark Potter since the Jets men’s basketball program was resurrected beginning with the 1998-99 season, helping compile the overall record of 322-204 over that span.

He has assisted in developing players that have gone on to receive 33 all-conference nods, 11 NAIA All-America honors, two NCAA all-region laurels, as well as two conference players of the year. The Jets have made 12 berths in the conference postseason and four national tournament appearances with Cosgrove on the coaching staff. Included in that stretch is a four-year run from 1999-2003 that saw the Jets go 104-26, and the team’s best performance as a member of the NCAA when they went 20-8 and earned a bid to the NCAA South Central Regional.

Cosgrove came to Newman following a long career as both an assistant and head coach in scholastic basketball, including successful stops at Arkansas City High School, Wichita's Curtis Junior High School, Derby High School, and Wichita South High School. During his seven years as an assistant at Wichita South, Cosgrove helped guide the team to five City League championships, and three 6A state championships, while working with several all-city and all-state players.

Cosgrove currently teaches social studies at Wichita South High School. He and his wife, Margaret, have three daughters, Danielle and twins Emily and Hillary.
