Jeremy Espinoza is entering his second season as a graduate assistant coach for the Newman men’s basketball program in 2016-17.

Espinoza assists in all aspects of team and individual game preparation, as well as recruiting and team operations.

In Espinoza’s first season as a graduate assistant, the Jets went 17-13 overall, and the team returned to the postseason for the first time in three years, toppling second-seeded Lubbock Christian in the Heartland Conference Tournament for its first playoff win as an NCAA school.

Espinoza played the final two seasons of his college career for Newman, earning all-conference honors in both 2013-14 and 2014-15. He started 51 games over that span, leading the Jets in rebounding both years and finishing his Newman career averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Uvalde, Texas native played his first two years at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, earning all-region honors and averaging 15.4 points and 7.7 rebounds. He received his bachelor’s degree from Newman in 2015, and is currently pursuing a master’s in educational leadership.
