Rachel Walker is in her first season as an assistant volleyball coach with Newman University.
Walker spent the previous two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio. She has been a part of the rebuilding process with the Redstorm volleyball program helping them reach post season play at the Mid-South Conference tournament both years.
In 2011, Walker served as an assistant varsity coach at Oak Hill High School and head coach for Buckeye Elite volleyball club.
During her years as an undergraduate at the University of Rio Grande, Walker was a key player for the volleyball program. The Redstorm had its first over .500 season in nearly a decade, finishing 22-14 her senior year. She was MSC Academic All-Conference athlete both her junior and senior years.
Walker was also a part of the track and field team at Rio Grande where she placed back-to-back years at the Mid-South Conference track meet in the 4x100 meter relay and the discus and hammer throws.
The Ironton, Ohio native graduated from the University of Rio Grande with a bachelor’s degree in english and a master’s degree in education.
