KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A slow start proved deadly for the Newman volleyball team as the Jets dropped a 3-0 sweep to Rockhurst Tuesday evening at Mason Halpin Fieldhouse in Kansas City, Mo. 
Chelsey Potter and 
Allison Bailey each scored six kills to lead the Jets. 
Newman (6-8) never led in a match that started with a 25-13 win for Rockhurst (13-2). The Hawks added a 25-14 win in the second set, and finished the sweep with a 25-19 third-set win. 
Making her first appearance in several weeks after battling health issues, 
Gabby Loxterman led the Jets with 13 assists in the game, while 
Lyndsey Martini and 
Ashley Myers added five assists a piece. 
Kristen White was Newman's leading defensive player with 13 digs. 
Newman hit just .070 in the match, while Rockhurst hit .292. 
With the loss, the Jets fall to 6-8 on the season. They will return to action Friday as they open the Missouri Southern Crossover against No. 20 West Texs A&M.
