Jets Snap Skid with 1-0 Win Over TAMIU

Box Score WICHITA - Senior goalkeeper Christina Farid posted her fourth shut-out of the season as the Newman women's soccer team defeated Texas A&M International 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Wilkins Field. The Senior Day win snapped the Jets' six-game losing skid.

- Newman's Mei-Mei Senthavy scored her second goal of the season and the only goal of the match after she received a pass from Alli Zingo and beat the Dustdevil goalkeeper with a shot to the lower left corner.

- Farid made four saves in the contest and posted her fourth shut-out this year while improving to 4-8-3.

- Newman out-shot TAMIU 11-8 in the game. Seven of the Dustdevils' shots came in the second half.

- The Jets held a 4-0 corner kick advantage in the match.

- Twenty-eight fouls were called in the contest, 15 against Newman and 13 against Texas A&M International.

- One yellow card was issued in the contest. TAMIU's Lina De La Rosa was booked with a caution in the 80th minute.

- Sunday afternoon's win snapped a six-game losing streak dating back to a 3-0 win over Texas-Permian Basin on September 27.

- With the win Newman moves into sole posession of fourth place in the Heartland Conference with two conference games remaining. The Jets must finish fourth or higher to earn a berth in the Heartland Conference Championship tournament.

With the win the Jets improve to 4-8-3 on the season and 2-6-1 in Heartland Conference play. They will return to action Wednesday October 26th at 7 p.m. against Central Oklahoma at Wilkins Field.
