The Newman men's golf team placed seventh out of 15 teamsat the Classic at the Tribute, and
Charles Mommaerts finished third, earning All-Tournament honors, in the Jets' last event of the fall season on Oct. 28-29.
Mommaerts finished at 7-under-par with rounds of 4-under-par 68 in his first round and 3-under-par 69 in the second round. He was one stroke off second place and six shots off Derek Oland of Midwestern State, who won the event with a score of 13-under-par.
James Bolton ended up with his fourth top 10 finish in the fall, firing rounds of 3-under-par 69 and even par 72. He totaled a score of 3-under-par 141 to tie for 10th place.
Ben Cotton was 3-over-par and placed 31st. He shot rounds of 2-over-par 74 and 1-over-par 73 for a total score of 147.
James Hornsby carded rounds of 80 and 77 for a total of 157.
Logan Woodbridge finished two shots behind Hornsby with rounds of 76 and 83 for a total score of 159.
The Jets shot a team score of 578. In the first round, NU totaled a score of 287, and on day two the Jets finished with a score of 291.
Cameron University won the event with a total score of 556. Midwestern State was 12 shots behind in second with a 568 team score.
The Jets are next in action on March 10, 2014 at the Central Regional Crossover in Garden City, Kan. at Buffalo Dunes.
