Jefferson City, Mo. – Men's Golf opened play at the MIAA Golf Championship with the first round on Monday, sitting in sixth place out of 11 teams and just eight strokes off the lead. Battling wind conditions ranging from 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35, the Jets turned in a strong opening round performance.
Alphonse Hermansson led the Jets with a two-under 70 and sat in first place individually after day one. Braxton Muldoon followed with a 75, while Tomas Asgeirsson added a 77. Grant Delsart recorded a 79, and Charlie Townsend rounded out the lineup with an 80 to close out the first round of play.
In the second round of play, the Jets posted the second-lowest team score of the day to climb two spots into fourth place. Hermansson continued to lead the Jets with an even-par 72 and sat in second place overall, just one stroke off the lead. Muldoon followed with a 73 to move into 12th individually. Asgeirsson, Delsart, and Townsend each recorded rounds of 75 to close out the second round of competition.
In the final round of play, the Jets secured a fourth-place team finish, the highest in program history at the MIAA Golf Championship. Muldoon paced the Jets with a 68 that included an eagle and a handful of birdies to finish third overall and earn All-Tournament honors. Asgeirsson followed with a 71 to place 16th, while Delsart added a 73. Townsend recorded a 75, and Hermansson rounded out the lineup with an 80 to close out the tournament. The Jets placed three golfers inside the top 20.
