AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's scored four first-half goals to defeat the Newman men's soccer team, 4-0, on Saturday (Oct. 11) at LC Family Field. The Jets dropped to 7-4-1 and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference. SEU upped its record to 8-2-1 and 3-0 in the conference.
 
The Hilltoppers scored the match-winning goal early in the ninth minute. Daniel Riley knocked in his first of two straight goals for a 1-0 win. Riley added the next goal in the 22nd minute to make it 2-0. SEU increased the advantage to 3-0 in the 30th minute when Coleton Stymiest scored. The final goal happened in the 39th minute as Samuel Jackson scored.
 
SEU totaled 13 shots to five from NU. Seven of the Hilltopper shots were on goal. NU put three shots on goal.
 
Steven Hamersky started in goal, going the full 90 minutes. He made five saves.
 
The Jets look to get back on track next Saturday (Oct. 18) at Texas-Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
