WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team and Oklahoma Christian played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday (Oct. 25) at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets went to 5-7-2 on the season and 1-4-1 in the Heartland Conference.
 
Harriet Jakeman put the Lady Jets in front, 1-0, in the 17th minute as she hit in a ball that hit the post on a shot from Mei-Mei Senthavy. It was Jakeman's second goal of the season.
 
The Eagles tied the score early in the second half. Amanda Cooper scored her first goal of the season in the 50th minute as she hit in her own rebounded shot.
 
NU had many opportunities in the game, getting 21 shots and 16 shots on goal. Jakeman and Maricela Ruvalcaba both had four shots on goal. OC totaled six shots, including three on goal.
 
OC's goalkeepers combined to make 15 saves and allowed only one goal in the 110 minutes of action.
 
Haley Borchers made the start in goal for NU, making two saves and allowing the one goal.
 
The Lady Jets are back in action on Monday (Oct. 27) at noon against Dallas Baptist at Wilkins Field. Live stats will be provided.
