ADA, Okla. – East Central scored two second half goals, downing Newman women's soccer, 2-1, on Wednesday (Sept. 10) at Lady Tiger Field. The Lady Jets dropped to 1-1-1 on the season.
After a scoreless first half, the Tigers went on 2-0 with two goals in 7 minutes. East Central went up 1-0 with a goal in the 69th minute on a shot after a cross from the right side. In the 77th minute, the Tigers doubled the score to 2-0 with a goal scored from the left side of the box.
NU cut the deficit in half with a
Megan Snyder goal in the 88th minute. Her shot from far out on the right side went over the top of the goalkeeper.
The first half saw little action with each team totaling four shots, one on goal for NU and two on goal for East Central. In the second half the pace picked up with the Tigers getting 15 shots to eight from the Lady Jets.
Kayleigh Renfro started in goal, making six saves and allowing the two goals. She is 1-1-1 on the season.
The Lady Jets return home for three contests. NU starts the homestand with rival Friends University on Friday (Sept. 12) at 6 p.m. at Wilkins Field.
