Jets Cruise to 13-0 Win

WICHITA – The Newman men's soccer program cruised to a 13-0 win over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College on Saturday night (Sept. 13) at Wilkins Field. Vitor Okamoto scored four of the NU goals. The Jets moved to 3-0-1 on the season.
 
NU tallied 10 goals in the first half, including six in the first 10 minutes. Kerbson Lubin, who had a hat-trick in his first game of the season against Sterling College, started the scoring less than 1 minute into the game. Luca Anelli doubled the score to 2-0 with his goal in the fourth minute.
 
Gefte Blanc put NU up 3-0 with a goal in the sixth minute with the assist to Lucas Hanson. Taylor Henry then got in on the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute. Lubin picked up the assist.
 
Back-to-back goals from Victor Rojas less than a minute apart increased the lead to 6-0 in the 10th minute. His first goal came on a free kick from 20 yards, and he tallied the second goal on a corner kick.
 
Vitor Okamoto totaled four straight NU goals to put the Jets up 10-0. He scored in the 14th, 20th, 22nd and 33rd minute.
 
In the score half, NU added three goals. Lubin scored his second goal in the 61st minute, and John Senseman knocked in the next goal in the 63rd minute for a 12-0 score. Tomaz Rossi ended the scoring with a goal in the 83rd minute.
 
The Jets totaled 34 shots, including 22 in the first half. The Saints had one shot.
 
NU continues its homestand on Monday (Sept. 15) against rival Friends University at 7 p.m. at Wilkins Field.
