OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Newman women's soccer team shut down Oklahoma Christian, getting a 1-0 non-conference win over the Eagles on Thursday (Sept. 25). The Lady Jets moved to 4-2-1 on the season.
The familiar pair of
Maricela Ruvalcaba and
Mei-Mei Senthavy did the damage for the Lady Jets. Ruvalcaba tallied the goal, knocking in a rebounded shot in the 33rd minute. Senthavy picked up the assist on the lone goal of the contest.
The Lady Jets dominated in shots, holding a 17-7 advantage. In the first half, NU held a 7-2 edge in shots, and the second half NU doubled up OC, 10-5.
NU got their first shutout of the season.
Kayleigh Renfro made five saves in 90 minutes for her first shutout of the season. She upped her record to 4-2-1.
The Lady Jets end their non-conference schedule on Monday (Sept. 29) at Southwest Baptist at 5 p.m.
