Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jets Fall to SEU, 3-0

WICHITA – After a stellar performance against Dallas Baptist yesterday, the Newman women's soccer team couldn't find their game in a 3-0 loss to St. Edward's on Saturday (Oct. 10) at Wilkins Field. With the loss, the Jets dropped to 3-5-2 and 0-1-1 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Hilltoppers gained a 1-0 advantage early, scoring in the eighth minute. Katie Donahue scored on a penalty kick after a NU foul in the box. SEU added a second goal in the first half as Jennifer Boudreau knocked in a goal off a corner kick in the 34th minute.
 
In the second half, the Hilltoppers added their final tally. Taylor Settecerri scored on a header on a corner kick for the 3-0 lead in the 78th minute.
 
Despite the 2-0 SEU edge at the half, the shots were almost even as the Hilltoppers held a 5-4 edge. In the second half, it was all SEU as they totaled 14 shots to zero from the Jets. For the game, SEU totaled 19 shots, including eight on goal, to four shots from NU. Two Jet shots were on goal.
 
Harriet Jakeman totaled three of the foul NU shots. One shot was on goal.
 
Kelsi Langley started in goal, going the first 78 minutes. She made four saves. Kayleigh Renfro played the final 12 minutes and made one save.
 
The Jets continue their four-game home stretch with Lubbock Christian on Saturday (Oct. 15) at 7:30 p.m. at Wilkins Field. Live stats and video are available.
