WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Lubbock Christian on Thursday (Oct. 15) at Wilkins Field. With the loss, the Jets dropped to 3-6-2 and 0-2-1 in the Heartland Conference.
The lone goal came early in the second half. LCU scored the game-winning tally in the 48th minute as Jamie Boone put in a through ball to the near post on the right side. Kate O'Gara got the assist.
The first half was scoreless. However, the Lady Chaps totaled an 11-1 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the shots were closer as LCU tallied seven to five from the Jets. For the contest, the Lady Chaps added with 18 shots, including 13 shots on goal. NU registered six shots with only one shot on goal.
Kelsi Langley ended the game with a season-high 12 saves. Although she allowed the one goal, she finished with a 92.3 percent save percentage. She went the full 90 minutes in goal and faced 18 shots.
Junior forward
Morgan Foster had two shots, including the one shot on goal.
Peggy Frazier also tallied two shots.
The Jets play their final home contest on Saturday (Oct. 17) at 2:30 p.m. at Wilkins Field. NU plays Texas-Permian Basin. Live stats and video will be available for the game.
