WICHITA – Visiting Texas-Permian Basin scored the game-winning golden goal to down the Newman women's soccer team, 1-0, on Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 17) at Wilkins Field.
The Falcons scored in the 105th minute when Ashley Redwine scored in front to the lower left after a through ball from Maria Suarez for the 1-0 win.
NU controlled play early and held a 6-3 advantage after the first 45 minutes. In the second half, UTPB flipped the shots, getting an 8-5 edge.
For the game, the Falcons held a slight 13-12 edge in shots. In the second half and overtime, the edge was 10-6 in favor of UTPB.
Briana Marin and
Aliya Marshall led the team with two shots each. Both had one shot on goal.
Senior
Kayleigh Renfro got the start in goal in her last home game. She went the full 104:29 and made three saves.
The Jets end the 2015 season with four road contests. The stretch starts at St. Mary's on Thursday (Oct. 22) in San Antonio, Texas at 7:30 p.m.
