SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Newman women's soccer team fell, 3-0, at St. Mary's on Thursday (Oct. 22) at Sigma Deta Chi Field. The loss dropped the Jets to 3-8-2 on the season and 0-3-1 in the Heartland Conference.
The Rattlers scored two first-half goals to go up 2-0 after the first 45 minutes. In the 29th minute, Kristal Williams scored for the 1-0 edge. The lead grew to 2-0 in the 40th minute when Natalie Rodrguez scored dribbling in on a corner kick.
After the first period, StMU held an 11-0 advantage in shots.
StMU added one more goal late in the second half for the 3-0 final score. Heather Dawson scored the final tally on a shot from 10 yards to far left corner in the 85th minute.
The Rattlers finished with an 18-1 edge in shots for the contest.
Paige Thompson totaled the one shot for NU.
Kelsi Langley started in goal and went the first 75 minutes. She made three saves and allowed two goals.
Kayleigh Renfro played the final 15 minutes and made one save and allowed one goal.
The Jets are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 24) at Texas A&M International. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Laredo, Texas. Live stats are available.
