WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team hosts Lubbock Christian on Thursday (Oct. 15) at 7:30 p.m. at Wilkins Field in the annual pink game. Live stats will be available.
The Jets are currently 3-5-2 and 0-1-1 in the Heartland Conference. Due to weather, NU faced a tough challenge early with two games in less than 24 hours against the top two teams in the conference. The Jets played to a 0-0 tie with Dallas Baptist on Friday (Oct. 9), however, they fell, 3-0, to defeating Heartland Conference St. Edward's on Saturday (Oct. 10).
Junior forward
Morgan Foster leads the team with six goals on the season, including two game-winning tallies.
Paige Thompson adds three goals.
Madison Decker has two goals and one assist on the season.
Kelsi Langley has started nine of the 10 contests in goal. She has a 1.01 goals against average and 86.2 save percentage. Langley has two shutout wins and 56 saves.
The Lady Chaps are currently 6-2-3 and 4-0 in the Heartland Conference. They started the conference slate with wins over St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, Rogers State and Oklahoma Christian. All four games were in Lubbock, Texas. Brooke Wendl leads the Heartland Conference with eight goals and 21 points. Her five assists are second in the league. She has totaled three game-winning goals. Kate O'Gara, Ashley Ledford and Madison Boyd all add four goals. Leslie Castellano has started eight of the 11 games in goal. She has a 1.52 goals against average with 26 saves and one shutout. She has a 65 percent save percentage.
After tonight's contest, the Jets have Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 17) against Texas-Permian Basin at 2:30 p.m. at Wilkins Field. Live stats and video will be available.
