WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Dallas Baptist on Friday (Oct. 9) at Wilkins Field in the Heartland Conference opener for the Jets. With the tie, NU moved to 3-4-2 and 0-0-1 in the Heartland Conference.
Kelsi Langley got the clean sheet for NU, totaling nine saves in 110 minutes to keep the Patriots scoreless. It's Langley's second shutout of the season, and she made some key saves for the Jets tonight.
The Newman backline of

Tara Minx,
Dania Rodriguez and
Korrie Raney shutout DBU for only the third time this season. It's the first time the Jets have shutout DBU since Oct. 9, 2009 when NU won 2-0 over the Patriots in Dallas.
In the first half, the shots were even at 4-4. NU made two saves while DBU totaled three saves.
DBU held a slight 8-5 edge in shots in the second half. In the two 10-minute overtime periods, the Patriots got off six shots to zero from NU.
For the contest, DBU totaled 18 shots, including nine on goal, to nine shots from the Jets. Six of the Jets shots were on goal.
Four Jets had two shots.
Madison Decker totaled two shots with both shots on goal.
Morgan Foster,
Harriet Jakeman and
Quincy Plank all added two shots.
The Jets are back in action tomorrow (Oct. 10) against St. Edward's at 2:30 p.m. at Wilkins Field. Live stats and video are available.
