Jets Go Down at William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. – The Newman baseball team fell, 10-0, at William Jewell on Tuesday (March 17) at Talley Stadium. The Jets dropped to 8-11 on the season and return home to play Washburn on Wednesday (March 18).

The Cardinals started the scoring with six runs in the fourth inning. An error brought the first run home and a walk with the bases loaded made it 2-0. A sac fly upped the score to 3-0. Two more singles and another error allowed three more runs to come home for the 6-0 advantage after four innings.

William Jewell added four more runs in the eighth inning to end the game via run rule. The scoring started with a double to plate one run. Another run scored on a single for an 8-0 score. With the bases loaded, a walk allowed a run in to make it 9-0, and with the bases still loaded, a hit by pitch ended the game at 10-0.

The Jets totaled only three hits. Tyler Bugner, Andrew Standish and Alex Lator each totaled hits. Bugner and Lator both doubled.

WJC's Tim Miller pitched the first 7 innings and allowed the three hits. He finished with three strikeouts and one walk. Andrew Miller pitched the eighth and didn't allow a hit and had one strikeout.
