Women’s Soccer Goes Down, 2-0, at SWOSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Newman women's soccer team fell, 2-0, at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday (Sept. 19). With the loss, NU dropped to 2-3-1 on the season.
 
SWOSU's Samantha Nunez put the Bulldogs up, 1-0, in the first half as she went around a Jet defender and scored to the bottom left in the 25th minute. At the half, SWOSU held a 1-0 advantage.
 
In the second half, Nunez added her second goal to put the Bulldogs in front, 2-0. Her second goal, which was also unassisted, came in the 61st minute.
 
The Jets had a chance right off the opening kickoff, but Morgan Foster's shot was wide in the second minute. NU had three shots in the first 8 minutes of the contest. In the first half, the Jets held a 7-1 advantage in shots.
 
In the second period, it was all SWOSU as they totaled 17 shots to only one from NU. For the contest, the Bulldogs totaled 22 shots with 12 on goal. The Jets finished with eight shots and one on goal.
 
Kelsi Langley went the full 90 minutes in goal with 10 saves and allowed the two goals. She's 2-3-1 on the season in goal.
 
NU ends its four-match road swing on Thursday (Sept. 24) at Northwestern Oklahoma State. The clash starts at 7 p.m. in Alva, Okla.
