Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Goal Downs Women’s Soccer, 2-1

ALVA, Okla. – The Newman women's soccer team allowed a late goal with less than 5 minutes remaining to fall, 2-1, at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday (Sept. 24) at the Alva Rec Complex. With the loss, NU dropped to 2-4-1.
 
Madison Decker put the Jets up 1-0 early in the contest, scoring her first goal of the season in the eighth minute. She scored on a shot to the lower right corner with the assist to Bianca Torres, her first assist of the season.
 
The Jets held a 1-0 advantage at the half. In the first stanza, NU outshot NWOSU by a 9-6 margin.
 
NWOSU knotted the score at 1-1 in the 62nd minute. Kelsey Leveling leveled the score on a chip to the right corner of the goal. Eliany Parra had the assist.
 
The Rangers tallied the game-winning goal in the 86th minute when Jordan Gomes used a header to the top right corner on a ball sent in from Kelsey Henneha.
 
In the second half, NWOSU held a 12-7 advantage in shots. The Rangers finished with a slight 18-16 edge in shots.
 
Kelsi Langley started and went the first 45 minutes in goal, making three saves. Kayleigh Renfro played the final 45 minutes and made three saves, however, she allowed the two goals.
 
NU returns home to play five straight home contests. The stretch starts with Dallas Christian College on Monday (Sept. 28) at 5 p.m. at Wilkins Field. Live stats and video will be available.
