WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman volleyball team heads back out onto the road for the final time for conference play this week, beginning with Dallas Baptist Thursday evening and finishing with St. Edward's Saturday afternoon.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (16-9, 5-4 Heartland) played three matches last week with one on the road and two at home. Newman started its week last Tuesday on the road at Emporia State, dropping the match 3-0 in the final nonconference match of the season. The Jets then came home to host Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma Panhandle State. Newman lost to the Lady Chaps 3-0 last Thursday but swept the Aggies 3-0 to close out the weekend on Saturday inside Fugate Gymnasium.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS (Thursday, 7:00 p.m.)
Dallas Baptist (7-16, 4-5 Heartland) hosted three matches last week at home. The Patriots started their week last Tuesday against Southeastern Oklahoma State, winning the match 3-1 for their final nonconference match of the season. Dallas Baptist then played conference opponents St. Mary's and Texas A&M International. The Patriots swept St. Mary's 3-0 last Thursday and then beat Texas A&M International 3-1 on Saturday to close out their week.

St. Edward's (9-13, 7-2 Heartland) played two conference matches last week. The Hilltoppers played Texas A&M International at home last Thursday, winning 3-1. St. Edward's finished its weekend against St. Mary's at home on Saturday, losing 3-1 to close out the weekend of conference play.

-The Jets are currently in fourth place in the conference standings. With five matches remaining Newman plans to stay ahead of Dallas Baptist in the standings and hopes to gain ground on No. 2 St. Edward's.

-Conley still leads the conference in aces with 32.
-Harvey is second in the conference in kills (284) and kills per set (3.46), while Braithwait is second in hitting percentage (.286).
