WICHITA, Kan. – A hot start to the conference match gave the Newman men's soccer team its third consecutive conference win and extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches, with the 3-1 victory over Dallas Baptist tonight.
KEY SEQUENCE
The Jets (6-2-1, 4-0-1 Heartland) found the net early and often in the beginning of the match against the Patriots (4-4-1, 2-3-0 Heartland), scoring all three of their goals in the first six minutes of the match.
Jamie Barkway got his first goal of the season in the 4th minute and
Rich Wincer tallied his first goal of the season in the 5th minute and Barkway came right back in the 6th minute to get the final goal of the match for Newman.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Jets started the match a perfect three-for-three on their first-three shots, getting a comfortable 3-0 lead early on in the match.
-Both Newman and Dallas Baptist each had a total of six shots in the first half, with
Calum Dillon getting both of his saves in the first half of play.
-Newman had two chances late in the first half to extend its lead further, when
Tommy Fiszel had a shot saved close in the box and
Landon Arensberg had a shot go wide of goal that had the goalie beat.
-The Jets would would possess the ball throughout the entire second half and whenever the Patriots would manage to get the ball the backline of the Jet defense would clear the ball out, only allowing one shot in the second half.
-Newman would have three of their six shots saved in the second half but it wouldn't matter since the Jets would hang onto a 3-1 lead to win the match.
NOTES
-The Jets have now gone unbeaten in the last seven matches, going 6-0-1 over that stretch and haven't lost a match since their opening weekend.
-Both Barkway and Wincer etched their way into the goal column for the first time this year, with Barkway getting two goals and Wincer putting in one.
-Newman's 4-0-1 start to Heartland Conference play is the team's best start in league play in its Division II era. The Jets remain in sole possession of first place in the North Division in the conference standings.
