WICHITA, Kan. — Finding their new hot streak a bit enjoyable, the Newman men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian Thursday evening in Heartland Conference play to push their unbeaten run to four games.
KEY SEQUENCE
The Jets (4-6-3, 2-5-2 Heartland) were comfortable with a 1-0 lead midway through the second half, but the Eagles (3-7-2, 1-6-2 Heartland) were starting to apply more pressure. Vitor Okamoto took care of that, controlling a ball at the top of the box, volleying it off his own head and putting a strike into the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 62nd.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the 10th, Barkway got closer, as his shot was saved by OC keeper Gianluca Marchetti, but his cross-goal shot in the 23rd wasn't, nodding it in on a diving header.
-Adam Sawyer got off a shot that sailed wide in the 35th, and Vitor Okamoto's shot in the 43rd went high, but the Eagles' only real chance of the opening half was on a late corner, and Garrett Blume's header skipped high.
-Newman held on to its lead for the opening 10 minutes of the second half, including as Chase Bowman came up big with two saves in less than a minute as the Eagles put up two shots from distance. The guests added another shot in the 60th, but Okamoto's strike two minutes later completely changed the game.
