SAN ANTONIO —The Newman women's soccer team won at St. Mary's Thursday 3-2. This put the team in real good positioning for the conference going into the final games of the season looking to gain some good momentum.
KEY SEQUENCE
The Jets (8-5-2, 5-4-2 Heartland) were down 1-2 in the second half to the Rattler's (6-7-2, 3-6-2 Heartland) when Erin Mink was able to take a pass from Sheree Molina for the header goal to tie the game and with that momentum the Jets were able to take a 3-2 lead on a penalty kick by Erin Mink and the Jets would go on to win by that score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Jets got on the board first in the ninth minute when Karen Tamayo took a pass from Colleen Howland to net the game's first goal.
-In the 27th minute Roxy Cruz Santory took a free kick from 19 yards out which was deflected and netted for the goal.
-St. Mary's got on the board again in the 66th minute when Rachel Gurinsky was able to score after some bad positioning from the goalkeeper.
-Erin Mink score the first of two goals in the 74th minute when she received a pass from Sheree Molina for a header goal.
-Mink score the winning goal in the 80th minute when she was given a penalty kick opportunity and was able to score the goal.
NOTES
-The Jets were able to score in the first 10 minutes of the games something the team has done in six games this season.
-The Jets were able to out shoot the Rattler's 18-6 for the game which really helped in the victory.
-The Jets are looking good going into the final couple games of the season looking to keep it up for that late push.

The Jets will be back in action on the road Saturday when they travel to Laredo, Texas to take on Texas A&M International.
