LAREDO, Tex. — The Newman Men's Soccer team lost a hard fought game Saturday 2-1 to Texas A&M International. Newman was looking to bounce back and allow itself to get back into the swing of conference but they have struggled.
KEY SEQUENCE
The Jets (4-8-4, 2-7-3 Heartland) had the momentum late in the half when Carlos Rubio Garcia received a pass from Andreas Agrell to tie the game at one and send it into overtime. In the second period of overtime the Dustdevils would work the ball around the box and were able to score in the early part of the period giving them the 2-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The game had been pretty even going in to the second half until the Dustdevils were able to get on the board when Rodrigo Zuniga received a short pass from David Martinez to beat the keep and put the Dustdevils up 1-0
-The second half was also a tough one for both teams getting shots up but not able to find the net until the 89th minute when Carlos Rubio Garcia was given a pass in the box from Andreas Agrell and Garcia would take the ball in to the box and flick it over the defender for the goal.
-Rafael Montabes had the final goal when he received a pass from Aaron Zuniga and was able to take it pass defenders and found the upper post from 30 yards out for the game winning goal.
NOTES
-The Jets were looking to swing their season around on the road by beating some quality opponents and keep themselves in the conference loop.
-The Jets will look to finish strong when they return home for their last home game and then will be back on the road to finish their season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Jets will be returning home Thursday Oct. 26 for their matchup against Midwestern State which will the Jets Senior Day.
