MAIZE, Kan. —The Newman women's Soccer team lost a rough game Saturday at Maize High School against Rogers State 3-1. Both teams were able to get on the board early and play good defensively on both sides they were able to keep the game close until the middle of the second half.
KEY SEQUENCE
Despite going into the second half tied at one the Jets (7-3-1, 4-2-1 Heartland) were looking to go out and close it out, the Hillcats (8-3-0, 5-3-0 Heartland) were able to come out in the 71st minute and score a go-ahead goal and that would lead to Hillcats winning 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-It didn't take long for the Jets to get on the board when Rosa Urista-Chico took the ball from about 35 yards out looking to catch the goalie off guard and did when she was able to score over the goalie to the high left post.
-In the 17th minute the Rogers State's Lexi Ellingsen was able to tie the game when she took a cross pass from Madison Murray for a goal 25 yard out to the high post.
-During the 71st minute the game was looking good until Janell Hernandez took a cross pass from Madison Murray for a goal to the high right post putting the Hillcats up 2-1.
-Six minutes after the Hillcats were able to get another goal when BreAnn Tolleson was able to take the ball to the box for a goal to put the Hillcats up 3-1 and seal the game.
NOTES
-The Jets outshot the Hillcats 18-8 and were able to play the ball well on defense.
-The Jets have been playing real well in conference this is only its third loss and they are still atop the conference.
-Rosa Urista-Chico has been playing really well in the past week, able to score three goals in the last two games and is now tied for the team high with eight goals.

The Jets will be back home Thursday, when they play St. Edward's at Wilkins Field.
