The Jets Tie In Double Overtime Thriller

DALLAS — The Newman women's soccer team ended in a tie Thursday with Dallas Baptist, pushing its unbeaten streak to five games. Both teams were fighting to get that game winning goal but were unable to because of good defense and goal keeping by both teams. The teams went back and forth not letting up on each other even in the overtime periods.

KEY SEQUENCE

The Jets (5-2-1, 2-1-1 Heartland) had been playing good defense throughout the game only giving up a goal in the 20th minute and playing physical and tough soccer for the rest of the game. The Patriots (4-2-1, 2-1-1 Heartland) were also playing tough soccer giving up their only goal on a penalty kick in the 86th minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Patriots got on the board first when Emmy Niece received a pass from Heller for the header and the goal.

-The Jets got on the board when Grace Linton took a penalty kick for the Jets and tied the game sending the game to overtime.

NOTES

-The Jets kept their scoring streak alive scoring 18 goals in five games.

-Linton was able to net her eighth goal of the season, and she has now scored in each of the last five games.

-The Jets have been playing well and have been able to keep their opponents grounded, only allowing three goals in the last five games.

The Jets Head to Austin, Texas Saturday to take on No. 6 St. Edwards.
