WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman volleyball team lost a tough conference matchup to Lubbock Christian in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-10. The Jets were looking to get a swing in momentum returning home after a road trip.
In the first set, after a service ace by Reagen Roth the Jets found themselves down by six. Later in the set the Jets were looking to get back in the set falling behind 21-14 late, after an Avery Moore Kill for the Chaps the team would get one last kill from Ashley Vanfleet for the match point.
After a back and forth battle to start the set, the Jets found themselves down three after a Hailey Braddy kill. Both teams were locked in a point battle, the Jets would get two points then the Chaps would come back with two points of their own. The Chaps would get the late advantage after a kills by Moore and Zoller to give the team the close match victory 25-23.
The Jets were able to get a strong showing from their upper classmen Hailey Braddy and Yemima Buana, who both help the Jets Keep pace with the Chaps. The Younger players such as Jada Key, Trinity Conley and Kennadi Myers help keep the Jets' momentum against the Chaps as well.
- Hailey Braddy and Yemima Buana led the Jets' offense with 12 kills combined
- Mackenzie Anderson recorded 14 digs, while Trinity Conley and Reagen Roth record two service aces each.
The Jets are back on the road as they travel to Laredo, Texas to take on Texas A&M-International Thursday, October 18 at 7 p.m.
