WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman Volleyball team lost a tough conference matchup at the hands of Dallas Baptist. The Jets were looking to continue their momentum from Thursday win and carry that great play into Saturday's matchup.

In the first set, the Jets were locked in a battle early not letting the Patriots gain an edge the Jets would go down late but force themselves back into the game after some Dallas Baptist mistakes, as well as kills from Yemima Buana, Kennadi Myers and Hailey Braddy but the Jets would fall just short falling 25-18.  

The second set came and the Jets started strong again getting a number of kills and blocks from their players, but the Patriots use a point rally in the middle of the set to give themselves a comfortable lead but the Jets weren't out just yet, kills by Buana and Braddy cut the DBU lead to three but the Patriots would rally one last time for the 25-19 victory.

The Jets got out to a quick lead in the third set, trying to gain an edge on the Patriots. Cassie Pauls, Buana and Myers all had strong kills to help the Jets in a back and forth third set. Both teams rallying point with one another until the very end when the Patriots would get three straight points for the match and game victory.

Yemima Buana lead the jets in kills for the second straight game with a team high 13 kills.

Buana also had a strong defensive game getting a team high three blocks Saturday.

The Jets return to action Thursday, Oct. 30 as they take on Arkansas-Fort Smith at 7:00 p.m. in Fugate Gymnasium.
