Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Fiszel Records Two Goals in Win Over Texas A&M International

WICHITA, KAN – The Newman University men's soccer team continued their dominance at home on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Texas A&M International. The Jets improved to 6-5-1 on the year and 3-4-1 in the Heartland Conference.

The Jets caught fire in the early-going as Ignacio Lerech put the Jets on the board in the tenth minute with his second goal of the season. The DustDevils however answered very quickly just thirty seconds later knotting things at 1-1. The Jets and DustDevils settled down into a defensive battle for the next 34 minutes heading into the break tied 1-1. The Jets were outshot by the DustDevils 6-4 through the first forty-five minutes.

Tommy Fiszel caught fire in the second half netting the go ahead goal in the 63rd minute when his shot was deflected off the DustDevils keeper as the ball grazed off the left post and into the net putting the Jets in-front 2-1. Carlos Rubio Garcia's long ball in the 81st minute set up another Fiszel goal, his second of the day beating the keeper far right post in a one-on-one situation.

The Jets defense had to really work in the final minutes as the DustDevils did not let up cutting the Jets lead to one, 3-2 in the 87th minute. The Jets defense was able to shut down one last DustDevil opportunity on a shot sailing wide right in the final five seconds, sealing the 3-2 victory.

- Tommy Fiszel recorded his first two goals of the year.

The Jets will hit the road as they face Lubbock Christian Thursday afternoon with first kick scheduled for 3 p.m. from LCU Soccer Field.
