WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman men's basketball team won a nail bitter Saturday over Texas A&M International 49-46. The Jets were looking to continue their dominance in the last five games as they were able to move the ball and keep the Dustdevils limited offensively.

The Jets (13-11, 9-4 Heartland) were looking at a three-point lead after Ben Ayre hit a free throw, the Dustdevils (10-14, 3-9) would get two free throws from guard Jeremy Wright cutting the Jets lead to one. Jets having 10 seconds left in the game got two clutch free throws from Kevin Bryant giving them the three-point and the victory.
How It Happened
-In the first half, the Jets were able to get an offensive contribution from Ben Ayre, Kevin Bryant, and Demetrius Walker. Both teams would go back and forth to end the quarter ultimately finishing the quarter with Newman being down a point.
-The Second half started with both teams going back and forth the biggest lead in the half was four. Newman was able to get a couple key stops thanks to the defensive efforts of Walker, Bryant, and Tim Troussel. The teams would be tied at 42 with 5:16 left in the game. The Jets would be able to get some clutch free throws from Bryant, Ayre, and Troussel that would give them a three-point victory after the Dustdevils hit two free throws of their own, Newman would finish the game with two Bryant free throws and the victory.
Notes
-The bench came in real big for Newman coming in and getting stops while being able to finish offensively outscoring the Dustdevils 12-2.
-Ayre and Bryant gave the Jets a lift offensively both totaling 14 points and three assists between them.
