-Newman would be next in the third, as Easton Herring started it off right for the team, getting a 2-2 fastball and lifting it over the fence in right center tying the game at one.

-In the top of the fourth, Emporia would get back in the scoring column when Mack Gowing doubled down the right field line, scoring Trevor Turner and Brown, and the score was now 3-1 going into the later innings of the game.

-Entering the sixth the score remained 3-1. The Hornets had a runner on second with one out when Garrett Francis singled to right center, scoring Turner and giving the Hornets a 4-1 lead.
