WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman volleyball team lost two tough matches first a four set match to Texas A&M-International 25-14, 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21. The Jets then took on Lubbock Christian in a later game losing in 3 sets, 25-18, 25-11, and 25-17.
Texas A&M-International
Key Sequence
After winning the third set, the Jets (1-10) were looking to come out strong in the fourth set and make it a game against the Dustdevils (2-10). After a kill from Trinity Conley and a bad set from the Dustdevils, Jets found themselves down by three going into the later portion of the set, but two kills by the Texas A&M-International gave the team the set and game victory.
How It Happened
-In the first two sets, Newman was fighting from behind and able to make games out of both of them. In the second set, after a service error by the Dustdevils the Jets were able to get five points to end the set giving them momentum going into the third set.
-In the third set, the Jets were able to get five straight points against Texas A&M-International giving them a 19-12 lead going into the final points of the set. After a kill by Jada Key, the Jets had match point, were looking to close it out, and would when the Dustdevils got an attack error, blocked by Key and Yemima Buana.
Lubbock Christian
Key Sequence
In the third set, the Jets (1-10) were looking to make an impact late in the set after getting four straight points from kills and errors from the Chaps (8-6). Late in the set, Lubbock was able to get two kills from Ashley Vanfleet for the set and match victory.
How It Happened
-For the Jets in the first two sets, looking to make an impact early. The Jets started the set in a back and forth point battle with the Chaps, kills by Jada Key, Yemima Buana, and Cassie Pauls help the Jets in their battle with Lubbock Christian.
-Trinity Conley and Buana got a major of the Jet kills in the third set as Newman was looking get back in the match while getting some help from the Chaps in the process. Reagen Roth did a good job of setting up all her teammates and their kills in all three of the sets giving the Jets an offensive jump.
Notes
-Roth would lead both teams in assists in game two with 20.
-Buana and Key would lead the team in kills for the day with 16 and 15 respectively.

The Jets finish up with the Heartland preview tournament Saturday with a match up with St. Mary's.
