WICHITA FALLS, Texas — The Newman Men's soccer team lost a tough game to conference foe Midwestern State 3-1 Saturday night. The Jets were looking to bounce back after a tough road loss to start the conference schedule.

After getting a goal from Ed Jabbari the Jets (3-3-0, 0-2 Heartland) were looking for their defense to make some plays and hold the Mustangs (5-2-0, 2-0 Heartland) in the second half. The Mustangs were able to get their offense back on track after Guiherme Leme was able to get the two-goal lead in the 78th minute after an assist from Julian Barajas.

How It Happened
-In the first half, both teams were looking to gain an advantage both teams were making strides defensively in the first half. The Mustangs were able to get on the board first when Juan Ramirez scored off a deflection from eight yards out for the 1-0 lead. Guiherme Leme would give Midwestern State a 2-0 lead after he would score off another deflection in front of the left post. The Jets would cut the Mustangs lead in half when Ed Jabbari was able to get a shot off a deflection to cut the lead to 2-1 going into halftime.
-The second half would start with both teams in a defensive battle once again until the latter part of the second half when Leme would get an assist from Barajas in the box for his second goal of the game and the Mustangs would get the two-point victory late.

-The Jets totaled nine shots with three coming on goal for the game.
-The Jets are now at .500 as they move into the bulk of their conference schedule.
