KEARNEY, Neb. — Keeping momentum from their victory Friday the Newman women's soccer team was able to score in each half to get a 2-0 victory over Western State Sunday afternoon. The Jets were able to score from the center box on both goals to end their Nebraska road trip.

Already looking at a 1-0 lead early in the second half, Grace Linton of the Jets (2-0) was able to take an assist from Vanessa Ortiz from the center box and score from 20 yards out giving Newman a 2-0 lead over the Mountaineers (0-2) and with the help of their defense the game victory.

How It Happened
-Early in the first half, the Jets were looking to make a difference early in the game after a shot, save by Jackie Lari, Dayna Johnson was able to take the ball downfield to the left wing getting a pass to Colleen Howland for the score from three yards out and the early lead.
-In the second half, looking to expand on the lead the Jets were able to get out early on the Mountaineers. Vanessa Ortiz started Newman's attack when she was able to take the ball downfield getting it to the center box where she found Grace Linton for the second Jets goal of the game and later the match victory.

-The Jets were able to outshoot the Mountaineers 11-4 as well as shots on goal 8-3.
-The Jets finish the UNK fall classic undefeated scoring four goals total against their two opponents
