Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Second Half Goals Cost Jets on the Road

PORTALES, NM – The Newman University men's soccer team continues to look for their first conference win after dropping Saturday's contest 4-2 against Eastern New Mexico University at Greyhound Stadium. The Jets fall to 3-5-0 on the year and 0-4-0 in the Heartland.

Scoring continued to be a problem for the Jets in the first half against the Greyhounds on Saturday. Both teams struggled to get anything going in the first half as neither team found the back of the net. The Jets outshot the Greyhounds in the first half seven to five, with both teams getting three on target.

The second half tended to differ from the first half as scoring became routine. The Greyhounds struck first just a minute and fifty-seven seconds into the second half. Victor Rubio Lopez would collect his second goal on the year, evening the match up at one. Lopez goal, ended the Jets one hundred sixty-nine minute and thirty second scoring drought.

Four minutes and forty-four seconds later, the Greyhounds would get past the Jets defense taking a 2-1 advantage. The Jets' offense responded as midfield senior Taylor White hammered home the 2-2 equalizer in the eighty-third minute off Ed Jabbari's through ball.

Despite the Jets gaining the momentum back, ENMU responded quickly catching Newman's defense off guard going back in front 3-2 just one minute and twenty-three seconds later. Newman picked up the offensive pressure late, however ENMU put the game away with a counter attack goal in the eighty-ninth minute to wrap things up.

-         Jets have allowed twelve goals in last four matches
