WICHITA, KAN – The Newman University men's soccer team collected their first conference win along with seeing their four game losing streak come to an end Thursday night defeating Dallas Baptist University 3-0. The Jets with the win improve to 4-5-0 on the year and 1-4-0 in the Heartland.
Victor Rubio Lopez started things off on the right foot when he supplied the Jets' offense with his third goal of the season on a cross from Enzo Nalis. In the 27th minute of the match Rubio Lopez utilized the cross pass from Nalis to deliver the Jets a 1-0 lead into the upper right corner of the net.
In the 35th minute, Newman stretched their lead to 2-0 when Andreas Agrell took a bicycle pass from Kristian Gecaj, tapping the ball into the left side of the open net. The first half would settle down as both clubs defenses got a feel for each other heading into the intermission with the Jets leading 2-0.
The Jets came offense came attacking out of the break connecting on their seventh shot in the 49th minute giving themselves a commanding lead. Victor Rubio Lopez hammered home his second goal of the game on a free kick from 22 yards out going top shelf to beat the Hilltopper keepers. The Jets defense would not let up in route to the shutout victory.

The Jets will return home Saturday (Sept. 29th) at 2:30 p.m. as they host conference foe St. Edwards University from Wilkins Field in Wichita.
