WICHITA, KAN – The Newman University men's soccer team posted their second straight shutout 1-0 on Saturday afternoon against St. Edwards State University. The Jets improved to 5-5-0 on the season and 2-4-0 in the Heartland.
The Jets' offense came out pressuring the St. Edwards defense early on in the first half and it paid off, setting up the lone goal on the afternoon. Early in the twelfth minute Ignacio Lerech forced a turnover inside the SEU box, setting up Ed Jabbari for his fifth goal of the season, giving the Jets the 1-0 advantage.
Following the goal both teams would struggle to gain the momentum. The Jets would take a 1-0 lead into the half out-shooting the Hilltoppers 2-0 in the first forty-five minutes.
The Jets' offense went quite in the second half only firing one shot in the final forty five minutes. The Jets defense picked up for the lack of the offensive production in the final forty five minutes. The Jets would allow four shots in the second half not allowing any big threat from the Hilltoppers.

- Wichita, KS sophomore Chase Bowman collected his second shutout of the year improving his overall record to 5-3-0.
The Jets will head back on the road Thursday (Oct. 4th) at 7:30 p.m. as they take on Rogers State.
