WICHITA, Kan. - Tuesday night in Fugate Gymnasium saw the Bronchos of the University of Central Oklahoma come in to face the Jets Volleyball team as they try to right the ship and secure a win. Newman would be able to keep the sets close, but would eventually lose all three.
In the first set, the Jets were able to keep it close through most of the match as they would alternate leads with the Bronchos. Being tied 9-9, the Jets gave up four straight points to UCO. After going on their 4-0 run, Central Oklahoma never looked back even though Newman was able to close the gap towards the end of the set. UCO would win the set 25-21.
The second set would see Newman jump out to an early lead as they score the sets first four points. UCO would score five unanswered to take the lead from Newman, 6-5. Both teams would be able to score multiple points in a row as the game would remain close for the entirety, but the Bronchos would finish off the Jets, 25-20.Â
in the third and final set, the Jets downfall would be giving up a two 3-0 runs and a 4-0 run. Other than those three runs, both teams went back and forth scoring points on each others serves with the Jets adding in a few 2-0 runs. Newman would drop the third set 25-19.
