WICHITA, Kan. - Friday night's matchup saw the #5 Washburn University Ichabods come into Fugate Gymnasium to take on the Jets. Newman came into this matchup still looking for its first win, while the Ichabods were looking to keep their record nearly flawless as they only have on blemish, a loss to the #4 Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney.

In the first set, the Jets were able to keep it close early. With Newman trailing 8-9, the Ichabods went on a run that the Jets couldn't slow down. Washburn closed out the first set on a 16-6 run, taking the first set 25-14.

In the second set, Washburn jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Ichabods would take this set 25-11.

As the match went on Washburn seemed to get better and better. In the third set, the Jets were able to get ahead 2-1. The Ichabods then went on a 14-1 run to make their lead 15-3. This would prove to be the downfall for the Jets as they end up dropping the set 25-7 and the match 3-0.
