WICHITA, Kan. - The Jets were back in action for the second day in a row as they hosted the Hornets of Emporia State University. Newman was looking to capture their first win, as Emporia State came in on a nine game losing streak.
The first set would start out rough for the Jets, after scoring the first point of the match they would give up ten unanswered points to the Hornets. ESU wouldn't look back from there. The Hornets would go on a 5-0 run later on in the set, as ESU would win it 25-15.
In the second set the Jets would turn things around. This time it would be Newman that would get the long runs of unanswered points, having a 5-0 run and three 3-0 runs. The Jets would eventually go on to win the set, 25-21.
The third set would go to Emporia State, although the Jets didn't go down without a fight. Newman trailed for most of the set before going on a 4-0 run to tie things at 16 a piece. They would then give up back to back points to the Hornets before going on a 3-0 run to take the lead back, 19-18. Emporia State would then score three straight for the final lead change of the set as they would take it 25-22.
The fourth set started out close before ESU ran away with it at the end. The Jets were able to keep it close early with a score of 12-9 in favor of ESU.
