WICHITA, Kan. - On Wednesday night, the Jets played host to the Manhattan Christian Thunder. Newman came into tonight's matchup looking to build on their previous win. The Jets would come out firing on all cylinders early and would stay hot for most of the game.
DeAndre Johnson would score on the Jets first possession to give them he first lead for either team, a lead Newman would have for the entire game. Newman would go on a 13-0 run to start the game before the Thunder were able to crack the scoreboard on a free throw.
After a three by
David Javorsky, the Jets were able to build their lead to 26-6 with 13:37 remaining in the first half. Newman would build their biggest lead of the half after a Javorsky layup extended their lead to 43 points, 63-20. Newman would take a 65-25 lead into the half.
Marshawn Blackmon would get the scoring started for the Jets in the second half as he would score a layup to extend the Newman lead back to 40 points. A jumper from
Juwan Davenport would extend the Jets lead back to 42 after the Thunder scored four straight points with just over 17 minutes remaining.
Anthony Harvey Jr. would sub in with just under 11 minutes left in the half and give the Jets offense a boost. He would score 17 points on 6 of 6 shooting with 5 threes. An
Allen Wilson layup gave the Jets their biggest lead of the game, 77, as they led 135-58 with 33 seconds remaining.
Kaleb Allison would lead the way for the Jets with 30 points and 7 rebounds.
DeAndre Johnson would finish with a double-double as he added 18 points and 11 boards.
Anthony Harvey Jr. added 17 points in just 11 minutes.
Notes
Newman would set the school record for points in a game in the division II era. A record that was previously set in 2017 as the Jets took down Oklahoma Panhandle 118-99.
The Jets will be back in action this Saturday, November 16 as they host Northwestern Oklahoma State at 3:00 P.M. in Fugate Gymnasium.
